It's exactly what type of technology that those of us in the industry are waiting for. Especially as, our workforce numbers are less and less and we have less and less people to do the work. We need technology that can help prioritize where our people that we do have should be. To provide the best care to the people who need it in the moment that they need it.

What I really liked was that it wasn’t just ‘fall detection’ after the harm is done. It was proactive, flagging patterns like underhydration, distress, inactivity, and clutter risks. That kind of insight helps us prevent the next fall instead of reacting to the last one. It also gives families peace of mind. They know, yes, we’re here in human form, but there’s also an extra, always-on layer watching out for their loved one in a respectful way.

What really stood out to me was the balance of privacy and prevention. It fits perfectly with my ‘thrive, not just survive’ philosophy, being proactive instead of reactive. If you’re already 10 steps ahead, you can prevent that next fall or incident before it happens. And it’s not just for residents, it gives families so much peace of mind knowing there’s an extra set of eyes on their loved one 24/7, even when we as staff can’t physically be in the room at all times.

In skilled nursing, documentation and accountability are everything. Jasemin gives us a clear picture of what actually happened in the room and when. That level of transparency protects our staff and our residents. It’s reduced unnecessary investigations and helped us feel more confident in the care we’re providing every shift.

Lamine Whittiker

Some shifts used to feel chaotic, ten call lights going off and you’re just trying to figure out what’s urgent. Now we can see real-time updates about what’s happening in the rooms, so we’re not running around blindly. It helps us prioritize instead of reacting to whoever presses a button first. And not having to chart every single visit after the fact has been huge. We spend more time with residents and less time catching up on documentation. We’ve also caught changes earlier, which means fewer real emergencies. That makes a big difference at the end of the day.

As a family member, you always worry about what might happen when you’re not there. Jasemin gives me peace of mind knowing my dad is safe, even when I can’t be in the room. Just having that added layer of protection changes everything. It takes away that constant “what if” and lets us focus on spending quality time together instead of worrying.

Our Story

Arif & Yasemin

Shi, Damon & Jing

Arif and Damon founded Leafra.ai with a shared sense of responsibility shaped by their own families.

For Arif, the motivation was deeply personal. With aging parents and one living with Parkinson’s, he experienced how operational inefficiencies, fragmented workflows, and limited visibility placed unnecessary strain on caregivers and families alike. He saw how much could be improved if teams were better supported with timely, actionable insight.

For Damon, that responsibility came from watching his grandfather navigate the challenges of aging while striving to maintain independence. He saw how delayed responses and preventable incidents could quickly escalate, often not because of lack of care, but because systems were reactive rather than proactive.

As they examined existing approaches, Arif and Damon recognized an opportunity to rethink how technology could better support care and operations. They believed the greatest impact would come from intelligent systems that reduce risk, surface what matters, and enable faster, more confident decision-making — while preserving the privacy and dignity of the people they serve.

Together, they built Jasemin, Leafra.ai’s next-generation AI assistant focused on reducing incidents and optimizing day-to-day operations. Their goal is simple: to reduce incidents proactively and help organizations operate more safely and efficiently, so caregivers can focus on what matters most.

Leafra.ai is rooted in a mission to improve outcomes through thoughtful technology — reducing preventable incidents, strengthening operations, and supporting those who care for others with clarity and confidence.
